Material

 

§         avoid rigid luggage, a sport bag, with a zip for a quick access to your material is preferred

§         small bag or small backpack (money / pictures)

§         a frontal lamp (essential)

§         a flask

§         a knife

§         wipes to wash yourself when the shower is to the following day

§         a good sleeping bag and a duvet cover

§         a walk mattress (it makes camp beds more comfortable)

§         a (digital) camera  

§         zoom 200 mm minimum (do not forget)

§         rechargeable battery

§         an adapter 200 Volts (English socket) : in Kenya, it is generally 220 Volts. We also have a generator for the bush

 

Clothing

 

§         sunglasses, cap or hat

§         biafine, sun cream (at least coefficient 30)

§         closed ankle boots holding firmly to the ankle

§         a short, tee-shirts, a swimsuit

§         a jumper or polar for the evening

§         a raincoat or a K-way

Flights

 

 

§         The return ticket is compulsory to get the entry visa.

 

§         Please note that local time in Kenya is GMT + 3:00

 

 

 

Medical - which precaution ?

 The following informations are only given as a guideline, it does not exempt you from consulting a doctor

 

Vaccine

 

§         You can see your general practitioner or call a specialised organization in big cities.  

§         Think about renewing your universal vaccines and do not forget to take your international vaccination record.

 

Universal vaccines :

 

§         TETANUS

§         POLYOMYELITIS

§         DIPHTERIA

 

Compulsory vaccines :

 

§         YELLOW FEVER : 1 injection immunises you for 10 years

 

Non compulsory vaccines :

 

§         MENINGITIS MENOCOCCIQUE A and C : useless for tourists

§         RABIES : useless for tourists

§         VARIOLA : world eradication, useless according the WHO

 

Your persanal medicine :

 

§         protection against mosquitoes

§         anti-inflammatory

§         broad spectrum antibiotic

§         anti-diarrheic

§         malaria (a preventive treatment is compulsory )

§         be carefull with ice cubes and vegetables

 

Insurance / rapatriation

 

§         The animals are wild, so remain in the vehicles

§         Do not venture alone at night.

§         Ask the villager before taking photographs of them.

 

Do not forget your rapatriation insurance

 

 

 

Which documents do you need ?

Identity card

§         Check your identity card.

Passeport

§         Have a valid passport, (6 month).

§         And a return flight ticket..

    Visa

§         You can get it while you will arive in Kenya, it will cost you € 40 or $ 50

§         For the trip including a journey in Tanzania, contact us.

Others

§         Take a photocopy of the last 3 pages of the passport, in case of loss or damage.

§         If possible take several identitiy pictures.

§         Every specific medical document (Blood group, etc.).

 

Climate - Regions

§         Please note that local time in Kenya is GMT + 3:00.  

§         For mid-December to March : dry season.

§         Be careful : the climate can vary according to the crossed regions.

§         The sun rises between 6 and 6.30 am all year long.  

§         Normally, the day is hot and dry, between 25° and 27° except in August in Nairobi where it can be cold.

§         The sun sets at 6.30 pm - 7 pm.  

§         Nights are cold and humid.

 

How to do with money ? ?

 

§         We disclaim any responsibility in case of theft, but we put a safe at your disposal in the truck

§        You can take euros, they are accepted in Kenya ; however, for Tanzania it is better to take dollars.

§         You can use credit cards in big cities.

§         Custom as it that you tip the drivers

§        You have to pay for the drinks and other extras.
